It's amazing how these rats love the same places. I was waiting for this one to come out of the standard corner hideaway that all these rats love. It came out and kind of dangled from the two by four that supported a garage shelf. I hastily fired and missed. The mild kick from the rifle was enough for me to lose sight of the mini beast just long enough for me to lose track of it. I waited. Finally, I turned on the garage light and started poking around at stuff with the barrel of my rifle. I hit the little stereo system and I saw a head poke out from behind it and then quickly retreat. So I went back and shut off the light and waited with my red flashlight. After about three minutes or so, its head poked out again and continued to emerge unaware of the red light. it hopped up onto the top of a box. At this point it was about four feet away from the tip of my gun. Too easy. Even a little kid wouldn't have too much trouble getting great accuracy at this distance. One shot rendered the animal lifeless, sliding off of the box and hitting a bucket on the way down. Only one leg gave a quick hopeless twitch upon impact.

Have you ever heard the term, "He didn't even know what hit him"?
