Kill #55

Shortly after Kill#54, I moved. The garage that I hunted in for almost three years is now someone else's problem. However, my new garage is my new "problem". It was a bittersweet discovery when I heard movement in the garage shortly after moving in. I was excited to be able to contribute more content on this website but at the same time angry about the possibilities of more rat destruction. I was cleaning up after doing some yard work late one night and while I was putting my shovels and rakes away a rat caught my eye. I looked up at Ratty in the rafters and Ratty looked back at me. I made some chirping sounds to see what Ratty would do. Ratty continued to look at me. I went into the house to get my wife so she could see our visitor. Ratty looked at my wife and then washed its little face with its hands. This was going to be easy! Too easy. The next night, I walked into the garage holding my video camera and my gun. There was my new friend on the rafters again. I juggled between aiming the video camera at Ratty and also aiming the rifle. While the video camera recorded the action I squeezed the trigger. Within a tiny fraction of a second, the pellet traveled through the air and hit Ratty right in the forehead. After making a very short trip through the tiny skull, the pellet exited the back of the head and embedded itself into the wood behind the victim. Ratty (probably already dead) flailed into a quick fall. So here, for the first time ever, is a video of the kill from start to finish. You can now see through the hunter's eyes as his prey is quickly and efficiently snuffed out. The video is in Realplayer format as well as Windows Media Player format. The download is just over ten megabytes so be patient. Also, sorry about the lack of pictures. I was still looking for my digital camera after moving. Hopefully this video will more than make up for this.

Tip: Listen closely as the camera shows Ratty on the ground. You can hear a couple of squeaks.
